FaKebook Friday — Peace Out! I’m Outta Here!

A quick recap/definition of FaKebook Friday:

On FaKebook Friday I will give an example of a FaKebook vs a Real Life version of the same story, essentially mocking the way we all have a tendency to put a spin on the lovely things we share on Facebook.

FaKebook is the version of the story that you want everyone to see or know and Real Life is the version that you don’t really share.

I already miss these sweet faces. What ever am I going to do with my self for 3 whole days? (supposed to be read in a sweet/whiney voice)

{Thank you, Google}

noun: freedom
  1. the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

I am giddier than any child that every stepped foot in Disneyland. I am not even kidding you, people! I have been waiting for and anticipating this weekend for months!!!

Do you know what a mother has to do before she can leave her people for a few days? A LOT!! Please allow me to enlighten you…

-Get the laundry caught up (You know you are gonna to come home to a whole heap of dirty clothes because that machine will not be turned on while you are gone. You might as well get a jump on it.)

-Make sure there is food. (Your people may starve while you are gone if you don’t prepare for this one appropriately.)

-Make a schedule for each child…Where they need to be and  what they need to accomplish while you are gone.

-Line up help. (Carpoolers, friends, and neighbors unite to support their own when one attempts to get away.)

-Prep for the week to which you are returning. In my case that meant Valentine’s Day… the classroom parties, the actual valentines, the valentine collection boxes, and oh ya…..I have a husband to celebrate too!

-Personal/Self prep includes, packing, checking in online for your flight, painting your nails, small bottles of all your potions, getting any last minutes items for the trip. (If you are anything like me that means… a new journal and some protein rich snacks.)

Fast Forward to actually leaving…

I got on an airplane all by myself and I got to watch a movie, read, nap and think.

Did you read what I just said?

I didn’t have to wrestle a baby. (which always makes me sweaty)

I didn’t have to take anyone to the bathroom. (Do you have any idea how hard it is to change a diaper at 30,000 feet? Sweaty.)

I didn’t have to shamefully walk the aisles with a fussing baby . (Super sweaty.)

For the next 75 hours and 32 minutes I get to eat without sharing, sleep without being woken, and pee without being watched!

Did I mention that I am super excited about it?

DISCLAIMER — I love being a mom more than anything else in the whole wide world but I couldn’t be more grateful/excited/ready for a little break.

I will be spending the weekend in Austin, Texas at the IF:Gathering.

My goals are simple:

Fall deeper in love with Jesus

Recharge my mommy batteries

Eat a lot of great food

Go home with arms aching to hold my man and my babies

  1. So beautiful! I loved it! The pics of you jumping for joy are priceless!
Have an amazing time! Your babies are well loved and taken care of!!!

  2. Oh yeah, sister. I hear you loud and clear.

But this has me deliberating how to hear you louder and clearer next year…maybe next year we meet up there? Because I miss you and celebrating freedom and Jesus and freedom IN JESUS with you just sounds like a really good idea right now. 😉
