FaKebook Friday – House Projects Edition

A quick recap/definition of FaKebook Friday:

On FaKebook Friday I will give an example of a FaKebook vs a Real Life version of the same story, essentially mocking the way we all have a tendency to put a spin on the things we share on Facebook.

FaKebook is the version of the story that you want everyone to see or know and Real Life is the version that you don’t really share for whatever reason.

So tired of living in construction. First it was the floors, then bathrooms, then basement, and now the windows. The dust, the noise, and the lack of naps! UGH!

{Real Life Version}

Our first house was a KB and we got to pick out everything from the lot to the carpet. It was fun and it was easy. This time around is a bit different… But I love getting to be a part of the process of making this house our own.

We have not done all the work ourselves. We call in the experts when we know we are out of our league.

Seriously… Did you see the guys on the scaffolding? Uhhh, no thanks!

But we are doing as much as we can on our own to save money. It has been a learning experience for us and a “growing opportunity” in our marriage.

Seriously… You wanna put your marriage to the test… try tiling a shower in the middle of the night in between the rooms of two sleeping babies. Our bodies and brains were not keeping up the with drying grout. But we did it and it felt awesome afterward!

We love our house and we love making it our home. We know God has blessed us with it and we want to use it ways that honor him. Today that means using it to make a confession and change perspective.

I am grateful for progress… I know that the mess will go away and the naps will return.

Until then… I will continue to smile at the dust graffiti art from my children, try to keep them from suffocating themselves on all the plastic, and continue to put them down for early bed times in lieu of their naps.

I think it is so important for us to step back, evaluate the things that we are complaining about, and find the blessing in them.

Can I get an Amen? Care to join me?

In your life… what do you need to reevaluate?

In what situations/circumstances can you find more joy?

What do you need to have more gratitude about?

Philippians 2:14 says, Do all things without grumbling…

So then… Let’s do it!  No more grumbling.

  1. I try really hard at that these days…i used to complain alot. Way more then I should…and it affects those around you. Our house really is too small for all the people in it. But we have done our best at utilizeing every scare inch of space! And I’ve prayed long and hard for God to give me contentment. House projects are rough, Girl! You are so good at opening your home to friends and family and just loving on them, even in the midst of dust and plastic! You have me hooked! 🙂

  2. I should be more grateful for my job…. I get envious at SAHMs or others who have fewer bills to pay… But I should be more thankful that I am working and we both have steady incomes… And! If I can hang in there I will eventually have more free time with my family <3 BIG PICTURE I keep telling myself… 😉 Thanks for the reminder Love! xo
